Product Description
The jar or flocculation test is a procedure used mainly in water and wastewater treatment facilities to simulate and optimise the coagulation and flocculation processes before full-scale treatment is carried out. They are used to determine optimal coagulant dosage (e.g. alum, ferric chloride, PAC), test pH adjustment requirements, compare different coagulants or polymer aids, optimise rapid mix and slow mix times, and to evaluate settling characteristics of formed flocs. This process helps plants avoid:
- Overdosing costly chemicals
- Underdosing (poor turbidity removal)
- Process instability
The BJT-6 has the capacity for 6 x 1L round acrylic beakers and each beaker is illuminated by an LED light under its base (please see below). It has a stirring range from 10 rpm - 1000 rpm (stepless adjustment) and a timer rage from 0 - 99 mins and 99 seconds.

Each beaker is independently stirred and all features of the jar test unit are controlled by an external controller. Key functions of the external BJT-6 controller include:
- Control of stirring speed and time
- Program storage
- Automatic coagulant pouring and temperature measurement
- Automatic raising and lowering of mixer heads
- Automatic calculation of flocculation G and G-t values
